We are currently seeking a Conferences & Events Coordinator responsible for managing the pre-event components of the Meetings Cycle. Responsible for lead conversion of all organic MICE and ad-hoc group enquiries, you will monitor market activities through client feedback and gather information relating to changing industry conditions.
Key responsibilities
Create and drive your development plan in line with performance development outcomes
Ensure hotels and departments are aware of the clients expectations to ensure smooth delivery and activation
Ensure all meetings inquiries are handled within meeting success standard procedures
Work with the Crowne Meetings team to coordinate the allocation of space for the conference and associated events
Liaise with the Reservations Department for room availability and room preference
Conduct room familiarizations and site inspections
Monitor competitor activities
Follow up and negotiate on sales leads and business quoted to ensure business is secured
Record all sales activities within Delphi MPE
Liaise with the Food & Beverage Manager and the Executive Chef on the pricing and preparation of banquet menus, and beverages and wine lists
About you
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality or Hotel Management, Sales and Events or related field is preferred
2 years of related experience within a hotel capacity
Demonstrated conversion sales skills – in-depth knowledge of sales principles and techniques
Creative, innovative, and aware of new technology trends in the travel industry
Strong client management, problem solving and organization skills
Effective communication and negotiation skills
Strong knowledge of IHG products, rates, and marketing programs
Experience with Opera, Delphi or other hotel system is preferred for the role
Organized, with attention to detail with the ability to work to deadlines
Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to meet changing environments
