Job summary

Access Community Health is seeking skilled and compassionate Support Workers to provide in-home, person-centered care across our Canterbury region. We support clients with daily living tasks, palliative and dementia care, and medication management, aligned with tikanga and respect for culture and beliefs.

We offer flexible hours including evenings and weekends, ongoing training, and a clear career pathway for Kaiāwhina | Support Workers.

Qualifications

• Level 3 or 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification or equivalent experience.
• Experience providing high risk, person-centred care.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to client needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home, safe, and person-centred support with daily living tasks.
• Assist with palliative care, bowel care, dementia, and mental health needs.
• Administer prescribed medications and ensure safe handling.
• Respect clients' culture, values, beliefs, routines and boundaries.
• Adapt care plans to individual needs and preferences.

Skills

Spinal injury experience

Stoma Management experience

Medication administration

Hoist operation (standing/two-person)

Caregiving background

Culturally safe practice

Smartphone ownership

NZ work eligibility

Driver's license (full/restricted)

Education

Level 3 Health and Wellbeing qualification
