Job summary

IDEA Services is hiring a Support Worker to empower adults with intellectual disabilities to live independently at home and in the community. You will help with daily living skills, personal care, and pursuing personal goals while promoting wellbeing and safety.

No prior experience required; we value a positive attitude, strong communication, and a willingness to work varied shifts, including sleepovers and weekends. A current NZ Driver Licence is required.

Qualifications

• You don’t need previous Support Worker experience; we value the right attitude and strong people skills.
• Be available to work a range of shifts including mornings, evenings, sleepovers and weekends.
• Build positive relationships and communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
• Hold a current full NZ Driver Licence.

Responsibilities

• Empower individuals with intellectual disabilities to lead fulfilling lives at home and in the community.
• Help people grow daily living skills, such as catching public transport and cooking meals.
• Assist with personal care routines, medication, and home upkeep.
• Encourage engagement in hobbies, interests and personal goals.
• Support healthy choices and overall wellbeing while respecting dignity and safety.
• Foster connections with whānau, colleagues and the wider community.
