Job summary

Talinger is partnering with a leading New Zealand business to recruit a Commercial Accountant for a true generalist role. Based in North Shore/Auckland, you’ll handle payroll, AP, bank reconciliations and cashflow, with exposure to revenue recognition and management accounts.

You’ll work closely with the MD, Production and external accounting teams in a hybrid environment (3 days in the Auckland office). If you thrive in a fast-paced project-based setting and own your outcomes, this role is for

Qualifications

• Solid commercial or accounting experience in a fast-paced, project-based environment (no CA qualification required).
• Xero proficiency; understanding of percentage-completion revenue recognition (IFRS 15) important.
• Smartly experience an advantage, not essential.
• High attention to detail and a genuine ownership mentality. This is a role for someone who solves problems rather than waits to be told.
• No ego about the work, you’re happy across everything from the detailed to the strategic.

Responsibilities

• Payroll including contractor payments and compliance.
• Weekly cashflow reporting with a 90-day rolling view.
• Project tracking with relevant stakeholders.
• Accounts payable and contractor queries contact.
• Daily bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Coordinating the R&D tax credit process with external advisors.
• Contributing to management accounts with external accountants.

About the Role

Talinger is partnering with a leading New Zealand business to find their next Commercial Accountant. This company is part of the invisible art behind some of the world's biggest film and TV moments.

This is a true generalist role covering everything from bank reconciliations and accounts payable through to payroll, cashflow, and revenue recognition. It's varied, fast-moving, and no two days look the same. You’ll get to work closely alongside various people and teams – from the MD to the Production team and the external accounting team, enabling you to gain real visibility over how the business runs commercially.

What You'll Own:

Payroll, including contractor payments and compliance

Weekly cashflow reporting, with full ownership of a 90-day rolling view

Project tracking with relevant stakeholders

Accounts payable and first point of contact for contractor queries

Daily bank and credit card reconciliations

Coordinating the R&D tax credit process alongside external advisors

Contributing to management accounts, working closely with the external accountants.
