Totally Vets Limited is seeking an experienced people manager to lead our Dannevirke clinic. You will provide leadership for our veterinary and retail teams, ensuring exceptional client care and strong team dynamics within a community-focused practice.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Tararua Vet Services is part of Totally Vets Limited which is a dynamic veterinary company, providing services and products in the Manawatu, Levin, Horowhenua, Tararua, and Taumarunui areas for companion animals and production animals.

Dannevirke is one of two clinics under the Tararua Vet Services brand, and there’s a close collaboration between the Dannevirke and Pahiatua clinics. For almost 20 years we’ve been serving the Tararua region. We’re a mixed clinic offering a range of services for production and companion animals.

About Dannevirke

Dannevirke is a rural service town steeped in Scandinavian heritage in-between the Manawatu & Hawkes Bay regions of the North Island, New Zealand. It is the main centre of the Tararua District and is at the foot of the beautiful Ruahine Ranges.

Dannevirke is smack bang in the middle - a short drive over the hill will land you in Palmerston North city, and a short drive in the other direction (north) will take you to the sunny Hawkes Bay, and then, to the east, are the beaches complete with great fishing and diving. What more could you ask for!

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced manager to lead and inspire our Veterinary Clinic in Dannevirke. You will need to have a passion for the local community and the ability to provide leadership for our clinics’ technical & retail teams. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm.

This opportunity will suit someone who loves nurturing strong team dynamics and ensuring our clients feel genuinely supported at every visit.

This is a hands-on role for a manager who has a strong business background and experience in leadership. You will have previous management experience, ideally within the veterinary or agricultural environment, but we’re open to experience in other environments too.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Leadership of our Dannevirke team, providing coaching and ongoing development
• Achieving financial and commercial targets – including monitoring, and reporting
• Identifying and responding to client needs
• Local marketing and promotional strategies with support from our head office
• Policy and procedures management
• Facility management for the premises
• Health and safety maintenance

Skills and experience you will possess:

• Staff and operational management
• Experience with client service delivery and complaint resolution
• Solid experience in creating and developing a high performing team
• Excellent organisation and administrative skills
• Effective communicator and mentor
• Ability to provide problem solving solutions
• Manage time, prioritise and work effectively under pressure
