Job summary

Stirling School is seeking an inspiring, experienced teacher for Years 1–8 in a small, supportive rural setting in South Otago. The role emphasizes NZ Curriculum understanding, differentiation, and a nurturing classroom that meets diverse learners’ needs.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of the NZ Curriculum and assessment practices.
• Experience teaching across Years 1–8 and multi-level classrooms.
• Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with tamariki and whānau, modelling STAR values.
• Know the NZ Curriculum and use assessment to inform, adapt, and differentiate teaching.
• Demonstrate strengths in multi-level classroom teaching and explicit instruction.
• Create inclusive, orderly classrooms (PB4L).
• Capable of creating a nurturing environment for neurodiverse learners.
• Work productively and collegially within the teaching team.
• Be involved in wider school events.

Stirling School is looking for an inspiring, experienced teacher to join our very supportive, future-focused team. Experience in New Zealand Curriculum would be an advantage.

We are a small, vibrant rural school in South Otago, Year 0-8 located close to Balclutha and the Catlins, surrounded by a supportive board, community and amazing students.

This full-time, permanent position commences 1 February 2027.
