Job summary

Visy Logistics is hiring Class 5 drivers for full-time roles across the Canterbury region, based out of Christchurch or Timaru. This role features a 40-hour week with an early AM start, delivering containers on regional routes and supporting a modern fleet.

You will join a team focused on safety, customer service and efficient freight movement, with opportunities for career growth within Visy Logistics' intermodal operations.

Qualifications

• Valid NZ Class 5 licence with clean record and current driver status.
• Experience operating skeletal trailers and container movements is desirable.
• Familiarity with safety regulations, fatigue management, load restraint and chain of responsibility.
• Strong communication, time management and teamwork skills are essential.
• Ability to conduct thorough pre-trip inspections and complete digital reporting.

Responsibilities

• Operate a Class 5 Container Truck, single or double trailer, for on-time freight delivery.
• Build strong customer relationships with a friendly service mindset.
• Carry out pre-trip inspections to ensure roadworthiness and compliance.
• Accurately complete electronic reporting and required documents.
• Adhere to load restraints and transport regulations, including fatigue laws.

The Opportunity:

We have multiple Class 5 Drivers position available within our Visy Logistics Intermodal Team. With Visy you're NOT just a driver. You are part of a team where your contributions are valued, and your career can grow.

Routes:

Metro positions- Timaru Ports and Metro Timaru area and Linehaul positions doing regional trips.

Location:

opportunities to be based out of Christchurch or Timaru.

Hours:

Minimum 40 hours per week, full-time permanent positions working on our AM shift (5am start).

What you'll do:

• Operate a Class 5 Container Truck, Single or Double Truck & Trailer combination for timely and efficient freight pick-up and delivery.


• Build strong relationships with our customers with a friendly service.


• Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections to ensure your vehicle is roadworthy and compliant.


• Accurately complete electronic reporting systems and other required documentation.


• Comply with all company/site policies and state and national transport regulations, including Fatigue Management and Chain of Responsibility laws.


• Adhere to all load restraint guidelines to ensure freight is securely transported.

What you will bring to the team:

• A valid Clean Class 5 Licence.


• Prior experience operating Class 5 Skeletal Trailer Truck, transporting containers is desirable.


• Experience with Side Curtain, Swinglift, Truck & Trailer and Container Trailers is highly desirable.


• Sound knowledge of the Canterbury Region, Timaru Metro area and Ports.


• Excellent communication, time management skills and a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.


• A comprehensive understanding of road, fatigue, and load restraint laws.


• Pride in the presentation and maintenance of trucks and equipment.
