Job summary

Visy Logistics in Timaru is seeking Class 5 drivers to join our intermodal team. You'll operate container trucks across Timaru Metro and Ports, with occasional regional trips, on a stable full-time schedule starting early (5am).

We value safety, reliability and great customer service as you build relationships with clients, perform pre-trip inspections, complete electronic reports, and comply with Fatigue and Load Restraint rules.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Clean Class 5 Licence.
• Experience with skeletal trailers and container transport is desirable.
• Experience with side curtain, swinglift, truck & trailer, and container trailers is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of the Canterbury Region, Timaru metro area and ports.
• Excellent communication, time management and a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
• Solid understanding of road, fatigue and load restraint laws.
• Pride in the presentation and maintenance of trucks and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate a Class 5 container truck, single or double trailer for timely freight pick-up and delivery.
• Build strong relationships with customers with friendly service.
• Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure roadworthiness.
• Complete electronic reporting and required documentation.
• Comply with all company/site policies and transport regulations.
• Adhere to load restraint guidelines for safe transport.

Opportunity

We have multiple Class 5 Drivers position available within our Visy Logistics Intermodal Team. With Visy you're NOT just a driver. You are part of a team where your contributions are valued, and your career can grow.

Routes: Timaru Ports and Metro Timaru area with occasional regional trips.

Hours: Minimum 40 hours per week, full-time permanent positions working on our AM shift (5am start).

What You'll Do

• Operate a Class 5 Container Truck, Single or Double Truck & Trailer combination for timely and efficient freight pick-up and delivery.
• Build strong relationships with our customers with a friendly service.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections to ensure your vehicle is roadworthy and compliant.
• Accurately complete electronic reporting systems and other required documentation.
• Comply with all company/site policies and state and national transport regulations, including Fatigue Management and Chain of Responsibility laws.
• Adhere to all load restraint guidelines to ensure freight is securely transported.

What You Will Bring To The Team

• A valid Clean Class 5 Licence.
• Prior experience operating Class 5 Skeletal Trailer Truck, transporting containers is desirable.
• Experience with Side Curtain, Swinglift, Truck & Trailer and Container Trailers or combi lifts is highly desirable.
• Sound knowledge of the Canterbury Region, Timaru Metro area and Ports.
• Excellent communication, time management skills and a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
• A comprehensive understanding of road, fatigue, and load restraint laws.
• Pride in the presentation and maintenance of trucks and equipment.
