Job summary

Fulton Hogan in Christchurch is seeking a Civil Structures Foreperson to lead on-site crews, coordinate day-to-day civil structures works, and ensure safety, quality and on-time delivery.

This hands-on role requires a minimum of five years’ experience, a full clean Class 1 licence with WTR endorsements, and proven leadership of civil teams; you'll plan resources, manage subcontractors, and uphold health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years’ experience in civil construction.
• Proven experience leading crews on site.
• Full clean Class 1 licence with WTR endorsements.
• Experience with retaining structures, formwork, temporary works, reinforced concrete, timber.
• Strong communication and planning skills; safety-focused.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate day-to-day site operations for civil structures works, ensuring jobs are delivered safely, on programme, and to specification.
• Plan and organise labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors to support efficient project delivery.
• Drive productivity across the crew while maintaining high workmanship and quality outcomes.
• Make sure all health and safety policies, procedures, and site expectations are understood and followed.
• Build a safe, switched-on site culture by guiding team members on construction safety requirements and emergency procedures.

In this role, you’ll lead from the front, guiding crews to deliver civil structures work safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. It’s a hands‑on role with real responsibility across site coordination, people, plant, subcontractors, and programme delivery. • The confidence to lead from the front, set clear expectations, and keep crews aligned on what good looks like.
• Sound knowledge of construction safety regulations, with a proactive approach to health and safety.
• Clear communication and strong planning skills.
• The ability to stay calm, organised, and solutions‑focused under pressure.
