NZ Labour Hire Group is seeking an experienced Civil Operator to join our Hamilton team. This hands-on role delivers civil construction projects across the region, operating and maintaining plant and machinery on site to ensure safe, efficient progress.

You will hold a current civil plant operator's licence, have proven site experience, read plans, and communicate with supervisors. We offer competitive hourly rates and ongoing training within a supportive environment.

NZ Labour Hire Group is seeking an experienced Civil Operator to join our team in Hamilton, Central Waikato on a full-time basis. This is a hands-on role that plays a crucial part in the delivery of civil construction projects across the region. As a Civil Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of plant and machinery on construction sites, ensuring projects progress safely, efficiently and to the highest standards. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse civil engineering projects whilst being part of a dynamic and professional team.

Key responsibilities

• Operate a wide range of civil plant and machinery including excavators, graders, rollers, dozers and other specialised equipment
• Conduct pre-operation checks and routine maintenance on all assigned plant and machinery to ensure safe and efficient operation
• Follow site-specific instructions and work instructions to complete assigned tasks safely and effectively
• Maintain accurate records of plant operation, fuel consumption and any maintenance issues encountered
• Communicate effectively with site supervisors, team members and other contractors to ensure smooth project execution
• Comply with all health and safety requirements, site policies and relevant legislation including the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015
• Position equipment precisely according to plans and supervisor directions to achieve project specifications
• Identify and report any equipment faults or safety hazards immediately to site management
• Contribute to maintaining a positive and collaborative working environment on site

What we're looking for

• A current and valid civil plant operator's licence (or equivalent qualifications) for the plant and machinery you will be operating
• Proven experience operating civil plant and machinery in construction or related industries
• A strong understanding of health and safety practices relevant to construction sites and plant operation
• The ability to read and interpret site plans, specifications and work instructions
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
• A reliable, professional attitude with a commitment to punctuality and attendance
• The ability to work independently whilst following instructions and site proceduresA current New Zealand driver's licence
• Must have WTR and Full Class 1, class 2 to 5 is a bonus
• A willingness to undergo drug and alcohol testing where required by clients
• Preferred: Experience working on civil infrastructure projects such as roading, earthworks or utility installations
• Preferred: A Site Safe New Zealand certificate or equivalent health and safety induction
