Port Marlborough is seeking a qualified Civil Engineer to join our asset management and project delivery team. Based in Napier, you’ll develop practical design solutions, manage projects from concept to completion, and help ensure our infrastructure operates safely and efficiently.
You will collaborate with consultants, contractors and internal teams, supervise on-site works, and contribute to capital projects across our diverse port portfolio.

Reporting to the Asset Manager, this is a broad and rewarding engineering role that combines asset management, capital project delivery and day-to-day engineering support across Port Marlborough’s diverse infrastructure portfolio.
Working across the full project lifecycle, you will develop practical design solutions, manage projects from concept through to completion, supervise works on site, and help ensure the Port’s infrastructure continues to operate safely and efficiently. You’ll work closely with consultants, contractors, operational teams and external stakeholders to deliver sustainable, fit-for-purpose infrastructure that supports the Port’s ongoing growth.
With continued investment planned across the Port, including major ferry infrastructure developments, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a wide variety of engineering projects while also responding to operational and reactive engineering requirements as they arise. No two days are the same.
We’re looking for a qualified Civil Engineer who enjoys balancing technical engineering with practical project delivery. You’ll be equally comfortable on site as you are in the office, bringing sound engineering judgement and a collaborative approach to solving problems.
