Job summary

Assemble, a respected engineering consultancy, is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join its Christchurch team. You will work across land development and infrastructure projects from feasibility through to construction, taking ownership and collaborating with senior engineers.

You will design civil schemes, prepare calculations and documentation, and engage with clients and councils, within a supportive, flexible environment that supports career growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalent qualification.
• Experience within a New Zealand civil consultancy.
• Strong civil design experience across land development and infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency with Civil 3D or 12d and AutoCAD.
• Sound knowledge of New Zealand engineering standards and council requirements.
• Strong communication and relationship management skills.
• Proactive, collaborative, and solutions-focused approach.

Responsibilities

Job description

A respected engineering consultancy is looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to join its Christchurch team.

With a strong pipeline of land development and infrastructure projects, this role offers the opportunity to work across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and concept design through to construction and project completion. You'll be trusted to take ownership of your work, contribute to project decisions, and collaborate with a team of experienced engineers and industry professionals.

The Role

Working alongside experienced engineers and project teams, you'll be involved in delivering civil engineering solutions across a variety of development and infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities include:

• Civil design across land development and infrastructure projects
• Stormwater, wastewater, water supply, roading, and earthworks design
• Preparing engineering calculations, reports, specifications, and documentation
• Liaising with clients, contractors, councils, and project stakeholders
• Construction monitoring and contract administration support
• Contributing to project planning, technical reviews, and delivery outcomes

About You

To be successful in this role you'll ideally bring:

• A Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalent qualification
• Experience within a New Zealand civil consultancy
• Strong civil design experience across land development and infrastructure projects
• Proficiency with Civil 3D or 12d and AutoCAD
• Sound knowledge of New Zealand engineering standards and council requirements
• Strong communication and relationship management skills
• A proactive, collaborative, and solutions-focused approach
• New Zealand residency/citizenship or the right to work in New Zealand
