Responsibilities

• Lead or manage civil infrastructure and land development projects (roading, drainage, stormwater, wastewater, water reticulation).
• Manage project scope, fee proposals, budgets, risk and client expectations.
• Prepare and review civil designs, technical docs, tender docs and schedules of prices.
• Collaborate with clients and cross-disciplinary teams.
• Site visits to support projects through to completion.
• Contribute to growth of the civil engineering capability.

Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to join our growing team. This opportunity would suit someone with five or more years’ experience who is ready to take the next step, or an experienced engineer already operating at a relatively senior level.

You will have the technical capability and commercial awareness to manage projects, support clients and help deliver quality outcomes from early design through to construction. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of our civil engineering capability.

Christchurch is the preferred base for this role, although we are open to considering candidates in Nelson, Queenstown or another Eliot Sinclair office where there is a good fit.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Leading or managing civil infrastructure and land development projects, including roading, drainage, stormwater, wastewater and water reticulation.
• Managing project scope, fee proposals, budgets, risk and client expectations.
• Preparing and reviewing civil engineering designs, technical documentation, tender documents and schedules of prices.
• Working closely with clients and people from across our disciplines.
• Getting out on site and supporting projects through to completion.
• Contributing to the ongoing growth of our civil engineering team.
• Building strong client relationships and contributing to the growth of our civil engineering work.

What We’re After

• Five or more years’ experience in civil infrastructure, land development or a similar field, or experience at a comparable level.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects, fee proposals, budgets and client relationships.
• Strong practical design capability and an understanding of how projects are delivered on site.
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the confidence to take ownership of outcomes.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with clients and people across different disciplines.
• CPEng is not essential. We are interested in capability, initiative and the ability to make things happen.
• A team mindset and a sense of humour.
