Our client in Canterbury is seeking an intermediate design engineer to support the Senior Team Lead. The role focuses on pure design, modeling, and related reporting with potential to expand into post-engineering approval tasks over time.

The position involves owning land development projects from concept to detailed design, including RFIs and associated reporting, with opportunities to progress into site observations and tendering in the future.

Qualifications

• BE or BTech in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• 4+ years NZ-based experience in civil design (land development or subdivision).
• Strong proficiency with Civil 3D and solid technical writing skills.

My client is looking for a dedicated intermediate design engineer to immediately support their Senior Team Lead. While the focus for now is strictly on pure design, there is plenty of room to expand your responsibilities and progress into post-engineering approval phases down the track.

The Role & Projects

This would primarily be a land development focused role with options for both small and large-scale subdivision work depending on experience. This could include larger townhouse developments or smaller 2-10 lot sites. You will take ownership of jobs from concept right through to detailed design, answering RFIs, alongside all associated reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver robust civil design work for land development and small-scale subdivision projects using Civil 3D.
• Run projects from concept to detailed design stages independently.
• Prepare technical engineering reports, answer RFIs, and handle 5 & 2 Waters certificate applications.
• Provide immediate, high-quality design support to the Senior Team Lead.
• Focus primarily on design for now, with the future potential to pick up site observations, contract tendering, and post-engineering approval tasks.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or Bachelor of Engineering Technology (BTech) in Civil Engineering
• 4+ years’ NZ-based experience in civil design (land development or subdivision preferred).
• Strong proficiency and hands-on experience with Civil 3D is essential
• Excellent technical writing skills for associated reporting and applications.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the senior leadership team.
