Job summary

Jora New Zealand in Auckland is seeking a professional Chinese Cook to join our team. Location: Auckland, New Zealand. Hours per week: minimum 30. Employment type: Full-time, permanent. Hourly rate: $25-$30 per hour depending on your experience.

Main Responsibilities include selecting fresh ingredients, preparing and cooking a range of Chinese dishes, seasoning to authentic flavors, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness and health standards.

Qualifications

• NZQF Level 4 or above in a relevant field (or equivalent work experience)
• Strong knowledge of Chinese cooking methods and ingredients
• Good teamwork and communication skills
• Flexible with working hours, including weekends and evenings

Responsibilities

• Examine and select food ingredients to ensure freshness and quality
• Prepare and cook a range of Chinese dishes in accordance with established recipes and standards
• Season food appropriately during cooking to achieve authentic flavors
• Regulate temperatures of ovens, woks, grills, and other cooking equipment to ensure optimal cooking conditions
• Portion and present dishes, including adding sauces, gravies, and garnishes
• Store food and ingredients in temperature-controlled environments in line with foodsafety requirements
• Prepare meals to meet special dietary requirements where required
• Assist in menu planning and estimating food and ingredient requirements
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen in compliance with health and safety regulations
