Job summary

Farro is seeking a hands-on Chilled & Deli Shift Manager to join our leadership team at the Smales Farm store. You will lead and coach the Chilled & Deli team, ensure outstanding customer service, and own day-to-day operations while driving sales and maintaining food safety standards.

Ideal candidates bring retail leadership experience, knowledge of stock control, merchandising and waste management, and a passion for great food and customer service.

Qualifications

• Previous retail leadership or management experience.
• Experience within food retail, FMCG, Deli, Chilled or a similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of stock control, merchandising and waste management.
• Ability to coach, motivate and develop a successful team.
• Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of what drives department performance.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organisation and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
• Knowledge of NZ food retail and food safety requirements.
• A calm, resilient and adaptable approach in a fast-paced environment.
• Genuine passion for great food and exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Leading, coaching and developing our Chilled & Deli team
• Delivering an outstanding customer experience and leading by example
• Taking ownership of the day-to-day running and performance of your departments
• Managing stock, including ordering, merchandising, date checking, markdowns and wastage
• Maintaining excellent product presentation, availability and stock accuracy
• Driving department sales and profitability
• Ensuring food safety, health & safety and compliance standards are consistently met
• Managing administrative and audit requirements
• Working closely with the wider store leadership team to keep the store running smoothly
• Creating a positive, engaging and high-performing team environment
