Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Chemical Plant Engineer for a major chemicals manufacturer in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. You will oversee day-to-day plant operations, monitor process parameters, diagnose problems, coordinate maintenance, and drive continuous improvements to safety and efficiency.

You will work on-site, ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, mentor operators, and contribute to turnarounds and PHAs while recording performance data and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years in plant engineering or operations in chemicals.
• Strong knowledge of chemical plant operations and safety.
• Experience with maintenance planning and execution is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the chemical plant.
• Monitor process parameters and equipment performance; take corrective actions.
• Diagnose operational problems and perform root cause analyses.
• Collaborate with the maintenance team on preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, safety and environmental compliance.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Assist in plant shutdowns and turnarounds.
• Train and mentor plant operators on procedures and safety.
• Maintain records of operations, performance data and maintenance activities.
• Participate in safety audits and PHAs.
