Placements24 is seeking a Chemical Plant Engineer for a major chemicals manufacturer in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. You will oversee day-to-day plant operations, monitor process parameters, diagnose problems, coordinate maintenance, and drive continuous improvements to safety and efficiency.

You will work on-site, ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, mentor operators, and contribute to turnarounds and PHAs while recording performance data and maintaining accurate records.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years in plant engineering or operations in chemicals.
• Strong knowledge of chemical plant operations and safety.
• Experience with maintenance planning and execution is a plus.

About the Role

Our client, a significant manufacturer in the industrial chemicals sector, is looking for a diligent Chemical Plant Engineer to join their facility in Queenstown, Eastern Cape . This role is essential for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the chemical plant. You will be involved in process monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance oversight, and implementing continuous improvements to ensure optimal plant performance. The ideal candidate will have a practical, hands-on approach and a solid understanding of chemical engineering principles applied in an operational context.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the chemical plant, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
• Monitor key process parameters and equipment performance, taking corrective actions as needed.
• Diagnose and resolve operational problems, performing root cause analyses.
• Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure effective preventative and corrective maintenance strategies are in place.
• Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Ensure all plant activities comply with stringent safety and environmental regulations.
• Assist in the management of plant shutdowns and turnarounds.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.

• Knowledge of safety regulations and environmental compliance in chemical manufacturing.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
• Must be able to work on-site in Queenstown, Eastern Cape .
• Familiarity with process control systems is advantageous.
