Job summary

Halswell New World, part of Foodstuffs South Island Limited, is seeking a Checkout Assistant Manager to lead the Checkout Department and deliver outstanding customer service.

You will support the Checkout Manager, train staff, handle cash procedures, ensure liquor duties, and schedule rosters while maintaining store policies and health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory experience in retail or customer service.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays.
• Current Liquor Licence and First Aid preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Checkout Manager in day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring friendly service to customers.
• Provide a strong customer service focus to meet customer needs promptly and professionally.
• Manage the department in the Checkout Manager's absence.
• Train, mentor, and support checkout staff, fostering a positive team environment.
• Manage customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
• Monitor and manage cash handling procedures.
• Ensure compliance with store policies and health and food safety standards.
• Assist with scheduling and coordination of department rosters.
• Duty Management including responsibility for liquor sales and supply.

We have an exciting opportunity in our Checkout Department and we are looking for someone to join our leadership team as a Checkout Assistant Manager.

• Duty Management including the responsibility for the sale and supply of liquor.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a supervisory role within a retail or customer service environment.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
• Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.
• A proven record of training and success.
• A positive attitude and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
• A current Liquor Licence and First Aid certificate is preferred.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
