Job summary

Bay Radiology in the Bay of Plenty region is seeking an experienced Medical Imaging Technologist to assume the Charge MIT leadership role. You will lead a skilled MIT team, mentor staff, and partner with radiologists and operations to deliver high-quality, safe diagnostic imaging across the region.

The role combines advanced clinical practice with leadership responsibilities in a private radiology setting, offering a supportive, collaborative culture and opportunities to influence service

Qualifications

• Current registration with the New Zealand Medical Radiation Technologists Board (MRTB) and an Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
• Proven experience as a Medical Imaging Technologist with broad imaging modality expertise.
• Strong leadership, coaching and staff development abilities.
• Knowledge of quality assurance protocols and commitment to continuous improvement.
• Understanding of MRT/MIT responsibilities in safe imaging delivery, including medico-legal aspects.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across a multidisciplinary team.
• Proactive, solutions-focused approach to operations, workflow and service planning.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional, clinical and operational leadership for the MIT team to ensure high-quality imaging services.
• Mentor and develop staff, fostering a positive team culture and patient-centred care.
• Collaborate with radiologists, modality leads and operations to drive service excellence and efficiency.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives and uphold safety and QA standards.

You will work closely with radiologists, modality leaders, operations teams, and clinical staff to support service excellence and foster a positive team culture focused on patient care and professional development.

You will bring:

• Current registration with the New Zealand Medical Radiation Technologists Board (MRTB) and a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)
• Proven experience as a Medical Imaging Technologist with demonstrated clinical expertise across general imaging modalities
• Strong leadership ability with a talent for coaching, mentoring and developing others
• Knowledge of current trends in quality assurance protocols and a commitment to continuous improvement
• Demonstrated knowledge of the responsibilities of an MRT/MIT in the safe delivery of imaging procedures, including medico-legal responsibilities
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across a multidisciplinary team
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach to operational challenges, workflow management and service planning
