Job summary

Scentre Group owns 42 Westfield destinations across Australia and New Zealand, including a major Auckland asset. The Centre Manager will drive day-to-day success, lead a high-performing leadership team and deliver outstanding customer outcomes and commercial results.

You will manage budgets, safety and operations while building strong relationships with the community, government and retailers to grow traffic and dwell time. This role reports to NZ’s National Manager, Customer Experience.

  • Senior leadership experience within retail, property, hospitality or a similarly customer-focused environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading large, multidisciplinary teams and developing future leaders.
  • Ability to connect the dots across the business, bringing together customer and commercial insights with an understanding of the local market.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and developing a high-performing Centre Leadership Team, building capability, accountability, engagement and succession.
  • Leading a customer-centric culture, putting the customer at the centre of decisions and using insights, NPS and advocacy drivers to shape centre priorities and the future customer experience.
  • Leading the commercial performance of the centre, including P&L management, budgeting and capital planning, and identifying opportunities to improve performance and growth.
  • Building strong relationships with community, government and external stakeholders, representing the Centre and strengthening its position within the local market.
  • Influencing the centre’s product strategy, using customer, retailer and market insights to help shape future direction and growth opportunities.
  • Owning the overall destination experience, ensuring high standards of presentation, operations, safety and customer experience across the centre.
  • Providing strong leadership across risk, safety and incident management, including preparedness for and response to significant incidents and emergencies, and ensuring WHS and compliance obligations are met.

Job description

Your opportunity

As the Centre Manager, you will be accountable for the day-to-day success of a significant retail asset, bringing together retailers, partners and the local community to create a destination where customers choose to visit more often and stay longer. Reporting to the National Manager, Customer Experience, NZ, you will lead a high-performing Centre Leadership Team and drive strong strategic, commercial, customer and operational outcomes.

Success in this role is not defined by previous shopping centre experience. We are looking for an exceptional leader with transferable experience leading large teams, delivering outstanding customer outcomes, and driving commercial performance in complex environments.

Your key accountabilities will include:
  • Leading and developing a high-performing Centre Leadership Team, building capability, accountability, engagement and succession.

This role is permanent full-time.

  • Experience translating customer insights into practical actions that improve customer experience and business results.
  • Strong operational leadership, with experience managing safety, risk, compliance and complex operational issues.
  • Proven ability to lead through change and adapt quickly to evolving priorities.
  • A hands-on approach and willingness to roll up your sleeves to get things done.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage across all levels of the organisation and externally.
