Job summary

Asmuss is seeking an experienced Category Manager to own the Valving category, shaping strategy, supplier partnerships, pricing and product performance, and identifying growth opportunities.

You will work closely with Sales, Supply Chain and our technical teams to ensure the right products, at the right price and quality, meet customer needs and drive category growth.

Qualifications

• A relevant tertiary qualification or experience in category or product management.
• Understanding of valving technology and related pipes, fittings or flanges.
• Experience managing supplier agreements and developing ranges within a technical product category.

Job description

We’re looking for an experienced Category Manager who wants to make their mark on a key product category.

Reporting to the General Manager Product & Marketing, you’ll have commercial ownership of our valving range, shaping category strategy, developing supplier partnerships, managing pricing and product performance, and identifying new opportunities for growth.

Working closely with Sales, Supply Chain and our technical teams, you’ll help ensure Asmuss has the right products, at the right price and quality, to meet customer needs and drive category growth.

What you’ll be doing

• Own and deliver the Valving category plan.
• Manage the product lifecycle, from introduction through to rationalisation and obsolescence.
• Identify new products, technologies and supplier opportunities.
• Build strong supplier relationships and manage commercial agreements.
• Manage pricing, margins and overall category performance.
• Monitor market and competitor trends to identify growth opportunities.
• Partner with Sales and Sector Leads to drive revenue and gross profit.
• Support product specifications, approvals and product training, working closely with our technical teams.

What you’ll bring

• A relevant tertiary qualification or experience in category or product management, civil industry knowledge, and technical skills.
• An understanding of valving technology, ideally with exposure to pipes, fittings or flanges.
• Experience managing supplier agreements and developing ranges within a technical product category.
• Sales, market or business development experience.
• Strong commercial acumen, including an understanding of pricing and margins.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• An organised, adaptable and customer-focused approach.
• Familiarity with AS/NZS standards and council approval processes for valving would be an advantage.
