Job summary

Fletcher Building Limited in Auckland seeks a dynamic Category Manager to drive category performance. You will develop and execute strategic category plans with a customer-centric focus to deliver optimal range assortments in New Zealand, while maximizing revenue through supplier terms and cost of goods management.

The role covers PlaceMakers, paint and Safety categories with market analysis, pricing collaboration, and supply optimization.

Qualifications

• Experience in Category or Product Management in building products or related areas.
• Proven ability to develop and execute customer-centric category strategies and plans.
• Track record of driving improvements and innovation.
• Strong supplier relationship skills.
• Tertiary qualification is an asset but not essential.

Job description

We are looking for a dynamic and strategic Category Manager to join our team and drive the performance of our categories.

As a Category Manager, you will be responsible for the development and execution of strategic plans in your categories. Your customer centric strategies will deliver the best range assortments in New Zealand, whilst maximizing revenue through effective supplier terms and cost of goods management.

As the PlaceMakers tool, paint and Safety Category Manager you are responsible for overseeing the success of these categories by ensuring our range and offer aligns strongly to our Trade Customer base. Market analysis, supplier management, pricing strategy, and product selection are all critical to ensure we remain competitive and are meeting customer needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maximize revenue through effective cost of goods and terms of trade management
• Design and execute best trade ranges for your designated categories
• Develop and execute category initiatives that achieve sales and profit targets
• Collaborate with the Pricing team to monitor and take appropriate action on pricing, (both cost and sell) to maintain competitive pricing
• Optimize supply strategies for core categories to enhance commercial performance
• Conduct regular and on-going category reviews
• Collaborate with Visual Merchandising to optimize in-store displays.
• Grow key supplier partnerships through effective joint business planning

This is a full-time permanent role offering 40 hours a week. Based full time from our Support office in Penrose

Qualifications and Skills:

• Experience in Category or Product Management, ideally in a building products or related areas
• Proven ability to develop and execute customer centric category strategies and plans
• An evidenced track record of driving improvements and innovation
• Highly developed supplier relationship skills
• Tertiary qualification in business or marketing is an asset, but not essential
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills
• Strong communication capability at all levels and audiences
• Customer-focused approach with a strong commitment to meeting and exceeding customer expectations
