Wellington Institute of Technology seeks an educator to facilitate teaching, learning and assessment for automotive students at levels 2 and 3, including pre-trade or apprentice level, with courses featuring strong hands-on practical learning.
Preference will be given to applicants with some ability in teaching, coaching or mentoring youth; successful applicants without teaching qualifications will be supported through on-job training.
Key responsibilities include facilitating teaching, learning andassessment for automotive students at level 2&3, pre-trade or apprenticelevel, with courses including a strong hand-on practical learning component.
Teaching qualifications and experience are not essential for thisposition, however preference will be given to applicants with some ability inteaching, coaching or mentoring youth or young adults e.g. supervisingapprentices or other workers on the job.
Successful applicants without teaching qualifications will besupported through on-job training and development.
We are looking for candidates with abroad range of skills coveringautomotive systems fundamentals, servicing and diagnostics including automotiveelectrical and electronics. Knowledge and experience in heavy vehicle systemswould be an advantage, but not essential.You will need to have a minimumqualification of Advanced Trade Certificate/Advanced Registration/NationalCertificate in Automotive Engineering and/or an Automotive ElectricalEngineering qualification.
The role may involve teaching duties in Petone depending onstudent enrolment numbers. Applicants will be required to pass a Ministry ofJustice Criminal Convictions Check in order to work with young people andshould hold a current driver’s license.
