Job summary

Tradestaff is seeking experienced Carpenter/Joiners for Otago, New Zealand. You'll handle residential, commercial, and civil carpentry, joinery work, and read plans. You’ll bring 3+ years of hands-on experience or NZQA Level 4 qualification, and have your own tools and reliable transport.

Join a busy team across Otago and nearby regions, with a stable 30+ hours weekly, ongoing projects, and a supportive recruitment partner. Pre-employment drug test required; safety-first culture.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' relevant work experience in carpentry or joinery.
• NZQA Level 4 qualification or overseas equivalent recognised by NZQA.
• Your own hand and power tools and reliable transport.
• Two solid work references and a strong Health & Safety commitment.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

• Residential, commercial & civil carpentry work.
• 1st, 2nd & final fix carpentry and joinery tasks.
• Reading and working from plans, specifications & drawings.
• Fabricating, installing, and repairing doors, windows, staircases and cabinetry.
• Framing, subflooring, cladding & roof work.
• Precision fitting and finishing of timber & composite materials.
• Shuttering joinery & steel tying.
• Operating power tools and machinery relevant to carpentry and joinery.

Carpenter/Joiners Wanted – Otago, New Zealand

Ready to sharpen your skills and work across diverse projects?

We’re looking for experienced Carpenter/Joiners who are confident in both carpentry and joinery duties to join our Otago-based team.

If you thrive on variety and enjoy working on everything from residential builds to commercial fit-outs and precision joinery, we want to hear from you!

Otago will be the predominant region of work for this role, however you may also be required to work in Canterbury, Southland, Westcoast, Marlborough and Nelson regions. This will be discussed further with the successful applicant.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

• You’ll need to be confident and experienced with:
• Residential, commercial & civil carpentry
• 1st, 2nd & final fix carpentry and joinery work
• Reading and working from plans, specifications & technical drawings
• Fabricating, installing, and repairing joinery components such as doors, windows, staircases, cabinetry, and bespoke timber features
• Framing, subflooring, cladding & roof work
• Precision fitting and finishing of timber and composite materials
• Shuttering joinery & steel tying
• Operating power tools and machinery relevant to both carpentry and joinery

What we’re looking for:

• A minimum of 3 years' relevant work experience, or
• A relevant NZQF Level 4 qualification (or an overseas qualification recognised by NZQA as comparable).
• Your own hand and power tools
• Reliable transport
• Two solid work references
• Strong commitment to Health & Safety
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug test
