Job summary

Tradestaff is seeking experienced Carpenter/Joiners for Nelson, New Zealand. The role covers residential, commercial, and civil carpentry with duties across joinery, framing, and finishing.

You’ll read plans, fabricate and install doors, windows, staircases, and timber features, and may work in Canterbury and surrounding regions as needed. Successful applicants will have 3+ years of carpentry/joinery experience or NZQF Level 4, own tools, reliable transport, two references, commitment to safety,

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' relevant experience in carpentry or joinery.
• NZQF Level 4 qualification or overseas qualification recognised by NZQA.
• Own hand and power tools.
• Reliable transport.
• Two solid work references.
• Strong commitment to Health & Safety.
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

• Residential, commercial & civil carpentry work.
• 1st, 2nd & final fix carpentry and joinery tasks.
• Reading and working from plans, specifications & drawings.
• Fabricating, installing and repairing joinery components.
• Framing, subflooring, cladding & roof work.
• Precise fitting and finishing of timber and composites.
• Shuttering joinery & steel tying.

Carpenter/Joiners Wanted – Nelson, New Zealand

We’re looking for experienced Carpenter/Joiners who are confident in both carpentry and joinery duties

If you thrive on variety and enjoy working on everything from residential builds to commercial fit-outs and precision joinery, we want to hear from you!

Nelson will be the predominant region of work for this role, however you may also be required to work in Canterbury, Otago, Southland, Westcoast and Marlborough regions. This will be discussed further with the successful applicant.

• You’ll need to be confident and experienced with:

• Operating power tools and machinery relevant to both carpentry and joinery

What we’re looking for:

• A minimum of 3 years' relevant work experience, or
• A relevant NZQF Level 4 qualification (or an overseas qualification recognised by NZQA as comparable).
