Job summary

Bupa Merrivale Care Home in Whangarei, Northland, is seeking a dedicated Caregiver for a fixed term contract to support residents with daily living and activities. Work involves AM shifts, with days Mondays and Thursdays–Sundays, under supervision of qualified staff.

The role focuses on person-first care, mobility assistance, documentation, and family communication, aiming to enrich residents’ lives and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• NZQA Health and Wellbeing Certificate Level 2-4 preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in aged care preferred.
• NZ work entitlement required.

Job description

Fixed Term Contract until 17 May 2027: average 31 hours per week

• Level 3 or 4 Caregiver + medication competency required
• AM shifts only
• Days of work: Mondays and Thursdays – Sundays
• Off Days: Tuesdays & Wednesdays

As a Caregiver at Bupa, you will work under the guidance and supervision of qualified nursing staff and management, to make a positive impact on the lives of our residents. You will be encouraged to develop deeper relationships with residents and their families, delivering the highest quality person first care to residents in line with their individual care plan.

Where You Will Make an Impact

• Provide personal care assistance with daily living, whilst treating residents with respect and dignity in our 66-bed rest home & hospital-level care home.
• Mobility assistance in accordance with resident care plans.
• Maintain accurate health care documentation as required.
• Encourage all residents to participate in scheduled social activities.
• Contribute to the development of a positive, safe, home environment for residents, visitors, and the wider team.

What About You

• An NZQA Health and Wellbeing Certificate Level 2-4 is preferred.
• Ideally you will have a minimum of 1 year of experience within aged care.
• Demonstrate genuine enthusiasm, dedication to care, and passion for enriching the lives of the elderly.
• Confident communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities.
• Applicants must be legally entitled to work in NZ.
