Job summary

Ryman Healthcare's Diana Isaac Retirement Village in Mairehau, Christchurch, invites applications for a Caregiver in our Special Care Unit. You will support residents with dementia, follow individual care plans, and engage with families to deliver compassionate, person-centred care.

The full-time fixed-term role runs from 1 October 2026 to 1 October 2027, with Saturday to Tuesday shifts 07:00–15:30 and Wednesday 07:00–13:30. NZ work rights are required.

Qualifications

• Must have completed the Dementia Limites Credit Programme (LCP).
• Dementia care experience.
• Strong empathy.
• Outstanding communication skills.
• Kindness in your DNA.
• Have obtained or are willing to complete the Relevant unit standards (or an equivalent qualification as approved by Ryman), within 18 months of their employment commencement date.

Responsibilities

• Oversee residents providing activities to engage them.
• Follow our resident's individual care plans, providing care that would be good enough for your own mum, dad, nana or poppa.
• Engage with our residents and developing lasting relationships with them and their families.
• Use the latest technology - including our own purpose-built care app myRyman.

About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Diana Isaac Retirement Village in Mairehau, Christchurch as a Caregiver in our Special Care Unit. This position will be working with our lovely residents who need an experienced and reliable person with a passion for dementia care.

We have a Full Time, Fixed Term position available starting 1st October 2026 to 1st October 2027 working Saturday to Tuesday 0700 - 1530 and Wednesday 0700 - 1330.

In this role you will:
