Job summary

OneSchool Global Palmerston North Campus is seeking a caring Student Support Assistant to provide one-on-one support for a student with Type 1 Diabetes, enabling full participation in learning and school activities.

The role is 25-30 hours per week, fixed term through to 10 December 2027, starting 16 November 2026 or ASAP, with training and a supportive team.

You will collaborate with teachers, monitor wellbeing, and maintain clear communication about the student's needs and progress on-site.

Qualifications

• A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to working with young people.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and responsive in a range of situations.
• Confidence following established health, wellbeing, and learning support plans.
• Previous experience working with children who require ongoing health or wellbeing support is desirable.
• Previous experience supporting students with health or additional learning needs would be advantageous, but is not essential.
