Job summary

SeaLink NZ is seeking casual and fixed-term Café Bar Assistants for the summer season, based at Half Moon Bay and Auckland CBD. You will help deliver excellent customer service, assist with menus, and support deckhands with operations and safety duties.

Shifts begin early, with a flexible schedule; candidates must have reliable transport and be able to thrive in a busy, waterfront environment with a strong team focus.

The ideal role if you want to enjoy working in a vibrant environment surrounded by the beautiful water this summer!

With summer fast approaching, we have opportunities for casual and fixed-term Café Bar Assistants, who will be based at Half Moon Bay and Auckland CBD and will play a crucial role in ensuring customer satisfaction while contributing to the café's overall efficiency. Our summer fixed-term positions start early November and go through until the end of March 2027. Working in this role, you will have the opportunity to learn the ropes of a Deckhand through assisting our Deckhands with operational and safety duties!

Shifts start as early as 5:00am and finish as late as 8pm. Due to the early starts, access to your own reliable private transportation is essential.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have your own reliable transport and should possess the following skills, knowledge, and qualities:

• Previous experience in a café or retail environment
• Understanding the principals of the safe sale and supply of alcohol
• Good local knowledge of visitor attractions
• Experience with POS systems
• A demonstrated ability to work under pressure
• Able to adapt easily to changing work conditions
• Ability to resolve customer queries with initiative and a positive attitude while being a productive team member
• Reliable private transportation
