Job summary

Foodstuffs South Island in Queenstown is seeking a hands-on Butchery Manager to lead the team at Remarkables Park. The role combines ¾ butchery with ¼ managerial duties, with a 45-hour week, Tuesday to Saturday, 5:00am to 2:30pm.

You will select and prepare meat, operate slicers, grinders, and bandsaws, manage stock and displays, and guide staff to keep quality and hygiene high. A Level 4 butcher qualification and experience with beef, pork, lamb, chicken, and smallgoods are required.

Qualifications

• Butcher Qualification level 4 is required.
• Be able to butcher beef, pork and lamb.
• Be skilled to process chicken.
• Able to make small goods (sausages, schnitzel, mignons, roasts).
• Willingness to learn and adapt.
• Able to work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Selects and inspects meat to ensure quality and freshness.
• Cuts, trims and prepares meat according to customer requirements.
• Operates slicers, grinders, tenderisers and bandsaw.
• Weights, labels and packages meat products for sale or supply.
• Maintains cleanliness and hygiene in meat prep and display areas.
• Manages inventory and orders meat supplies as needed.
• Creates attractive meat displays and assists customers.
• Prepares smallgoods such as sausages and mignons.
• Monitors smallgoods production for quality and efficiency.
• Informs staff of daily cutting priorities and manages the butchery team.

We are looking for a Butchery Manager to join our team. We are located in beautiful Queenstown at 1/12 Hawthorne Drive, Remarkables Park, Queenstown, 9300. Pay rate range for this position is $35.00-$38.50 hour. This is a permanent role that is 45 hours per week. The role is Tuesday-Saturday 5am-2.30pm. This roles relates to ANZSCO 322231 Butcher or Smallgoods Maker code. The role consists of ¾ Butchering and ¼ managerial tasks.

• Butcher Qualification level 4
• Must be skilled to Butcher Beef, Pork and Lamb
• Must be skilled to process Chicken
• Must be Skilled to make small goods ie sausages, schnitzel, mignons, roasts etc
