Job summary

New World Waihi, part of Foodstuffs North Island, is seeking an experienced Butchery Manager to lead the department and deliver exceptional standards for our customers.

You will own the team, manage rostering and training, ensure outstanding product presentation, control stock and costs, and work with the store leadership to hit sales and profitability while maintaining food safety.

Qualifications

• Must have management experience, ideally in retail, supermarkets, food service, hospitality, or a similar environment.
• Experience with SAP and inventory management systems.
• Outstanding planning and organisational skills.
• Strong financial awareness with a proven ability to manage margins, waste and profitability.
• A genuine commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop the Butchery team while creating a positive and high-performing culture.
• Create a positive and high-performing team culture.
• Manage rostering, training, productivity, and labour costs efficiently.
• Ensure excellent customer service and top-tier product presentation.
• Monitor stock levels, ordering, and inventory management.
• Drive department sales and profitability, with a demonstrated ability to achieve sales, gross profit, and productivity targets.
• Maintain food safety, health and safety, and compliance standards.
• Work closely with the wider leadership team to achieve store goals.
• Ensure counter displays are consistently full, visually appealing, and accurately ticketed.
