Job summary

New World Brookfield in Tauranga is seeking an experienced Knifehand or Butcher to join our busy Butchery team. You will be responsible for preparing, cutting, trimming and presenting meat to high standards, while upholding food safety and exceptional customer service.

We have one Full-Time and one Part-Time opportunity available. Successful applicants must be available to work one weekend day. Early starts are required, with the benefit of early finishes for afternoon time.

Qualifications

• Experience as Knifehand/Butcher in retail or commercial settings.
• Knowledge of meat cuts, preparation techniques and safety practices.
• Ability to work quickly in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

• Cut, trim, bonе, and prepare meat to specification.
• Assist with value-added products and displays.
• Maintain product quality, freshness, and presentation.
• Follow all food safety, health, and hygiene requirements.
• Clean and maintain equipment and work areas.
• Support stock rotation, control, and merchandising.
• Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service when required.

About the Role

The successful applicant will assist with the preparation, cutting, trimming, and presentation of meat products while maintaining high standards of quality, food safety, and customer service.

Location: New World Brookfield, Tauranga, New Zealand

Key Responsibilities

• Cutting, trimming, boning, and preparing meat products to specification
• Assisting with the production of value-added products and displays
• Maintaining high standards of product quality, freshness, and presentation
• Ensuring all food safety, health, and hygiene requirements are followed
• Cleaning and maintaining equipment, tools, and work areas
• Assisting with stock rotation, stock control, and merchandising
• Supporting the Butchery team to meet daily production requirements
• Providing friendly and knowledgeable customer service when required

Skills and Experience Required

• Previous experience as a Knifehand, Trainee Butcher, or Butcher in a retail or commercial butchery environment
• New Zealand Certificate in Trade Butchery (Level 4) is advantageous but not essential
• Sound knowledge of meat cuts, preparation techniques, and food safety practices
• Strong knife skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Reliable, hardworking, and motivated with a positive attitude
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Good level of physical fitness and ability to undertake manual handling tasks
