Job summary

Pak'nSave in Kilbernie, Wellington is seeking a permanent butcher to join our team. A minimum of 2 years’ experience is required, with a guaranteed 30 hours per week and weekend work.

You will cut, trim, mince, and prepare meat, operate mincers, bone saws, slicers, sausage makers and vacuum sealers, weigh and price products, and advise customers on cuts while maintaining food safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years' experience required in meat handling.
• Experience with retail meat preparation and customer service.
• Ability to operate meat processing equipment and maintain hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

• Removing bones, trimming fat and cutting, mincing and grinding meat for retail sale.

We guarantee a minimum of 30 hours per week, including weekend work!

To be successful in this role, you will have an absolute minimum of 2 years experience. Remuneration ranges from $30 - $33 per hour, depending on experience.

The key duties of this role include:

• Removing bones, trimming fat and cutting, mincing and grinding various meat to shape and size for retail sale.
• Operating machines such as mincers, bone saws, slicers, sausage makers and vacuum sealers to prepare various meats for retail sale.
• Making seasonings and marinades for meat.
• Weigh, package, price and display products.
• Providing advice to customers about cuts of meat.
• Ensure that all food hygiene and safety standards are met and keep up to date with industry standards.
• Undertaking stocktake on a weekly or fortnightly basis.
