Your resume and cover letter, tailored to exactly what they’re hiring for.
Select is seeking a commercially minded Business Development Manager to sell franchise opportunities and win new cleaning customers in Auckland. You’ll manage enquiries, run meetings, build a pipeline and guide new franchisees through onboarding, with incentives linked to performance.
The role emphasizes ownership, results-driven activity and the ability to work independently within an established system. Travel across Auckland is required.
We're looking for a commercially minded Business Development Manager who can sell, build relationships and make things happen.
This isn't a sit-back-and-wait-for-leads role. You'll be responsible for growing an established service business by selling business opportunities, winning new customers and helping new operators get their businesses up and running.
You'll have the backing of an established business system, a team to support you and a clear opportunity to earn additional income through performance incentives. In return, we're looking for someone who takes ownership, follows through and delivers results without needing to be micromanaged.
If you enjoy the challenge of winning business, solving problems and seeing the results of your own efforts, we'd like to hear from you.
1. Selling business opportunities
Contact and qualify prospective buyers, manage enquiries and convert suitable prospects into new franchise sales.
Conduct sales meetings and presentations, explain the business opportunity and confidently handle objections.
Manage your sales pipeline and follow up consistently until opportunities reach a decision.
2. Winning new cleaning customers
Meet prospective residential and commercial customers.
Assess their requirements, prepare accurate quotes and follow up to win regular cleaning contracts.
Build a strong pipeline of recurring work for the business.
Guide new franchisees through onboarding, training and system setup.
Help establish their initial customer base and ensure their agreed work commitments are fulfilled.
Keep franchisees informed, supported and focused on building sustainable businesses.
4. Managing relationships and performance
Build strong relationships with franchisees, customers and business partners.
Resolve problems promptly and professionally, taking ownership rather than passing issues on.
Maintain accurate records in the CRM and report regularly on sales activity, pipeline, conversions and results.
We're interested in what you can do, not just the titles you've held.
You'll ideally have:
A proven track record in sales.
Confidence making outbound calls, meeting prospects, presenting offers and closing the sale.
The ability to manage a sales pipeline, follow up persistently and convert opportunities into revenue.
Strong commercial judgement and the ability to identify opportunities to grow a business.
Excellent organisation, follow-through and problem-solving skills.
Confidence using CRM systems, computers and everyday business technology.
Clear communication skills and the ability to build trust with a wide range of people.
A full, current New Zealand driver's licence and the ability to travel throughout Auckland.
Experience in franchising, home services, cleaning, property services or recurring-revenue businesses would be advantageous, but it's not essential for the right candidate.
You'll have clear expectations and measurable outcomes, including:
Consistently converting qualified franchise enquiries into franchise sales.
Building and maintaining a healthy sales pipeline.
Getting new franchisees established and fulfilling their initial work commitments.
Maintaining accurate CRM records and following through on customer and franchisee commitments.
You'll have room to manage your own day, but you'll also be accountable for your activity, communication and results.
$80,000 annual base salary, plus employer KiwiSaver contributions.
Company vehicle, including reasonable personal use.
Company mobile phone and laptop.
Additional performance incentives of up to $1,350 per successful franchise sale, subject to the incentive scheme's conditions. With an expectation to grow to two sales per month within the first year.
The opportunity to make a measurable contribution to business growth.
A varied role combining sales, customer acquisition, relationship management and business development.
The support of an established operating system and administration team.
You'll probably enjoy this role if you're competitive, commercially minded and motivated by achieving tangible results. You like having responsibility, can organise your own workload and understand that successful sales require consistent activity, disciplined follow-up and resilience.
You'll be comfortable balancing several priorities, making decisions within your authority and keeping people informed. You won't wait for someone else to chase a lead, update the CRM or resolve a problem.
This role will be less suited to someone who prefers a purely administrative position, avoids sales conversations or needs close supervision to maintain momentum.
