RealNZ's MICE team in Queenstown seeks a Business Development Executive who can win and deliver major events and weddings. This role splits between sales and hands-on event execution, building proposals, closing bookings, coordinating with operations, and maintaining client relationships from inquiry to delivery.

This position requires at least three years in events or hospitality with sales or account management experience, strong communications, and a full driver’s licence.

Qualifications

• Three years in events, hospitality or tourism, including a year or more in sales or account management.
• Experience delivering events on the ground in venues or operations.
• Account management experience with retaining clients and winning new ones.
• Ability to move between desk, on-site event, hosting, online presenting, or at a trade show.
• Proficient with Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and attention to detail; full, valid driver’s licence.
• Friendly, outgoing character and the initiative to make things happen.

Responsibilities

• Win new business events and weddings work, and grow the accounts you look after.
• Build proposals and quotes, then close the booking.
• Get the operational detail right: timings, catering, staffing, weather contingencies, so events are priced properly and delivered well.
• Hand confirmed events to our Events Coordinator with everything they need, then stay close through to delivery.
• Keep in regular contact with clients and suppliers, and represent RealNZ at trade shows and famils.
• Keep client and booking records accurate in HubSpot and FareHarbor.
• Debrief events with clients and operations, and use what you learn to improve the next one.

At RealNZ, we create real experiences that connect people with nature. Our MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events) Team works with clients from around New Zealand, and around the world, to bring that to life for business events and weddings.

We're looking for a Business Development Executive to join our growing MICE Team. This role has two halves, and both matter equally: Winning and growing business events and weddings work, then staying close to it right through to delivery. You'll build proposals, close bookings, and work with our operations teams to make sure what's promised turns into an epic event.

If you know how to build a relationship with a client, and also know your way around a runsheet, we'd love to hear from you. Maybe you've worked in hospitality or event operations and want to move into sales, or you're already selling but miss being close to delivery. Either way, if you like the mix of desk work, client meetings and being on the floor at an event, this one's worth a look.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Queenstown, reporting to the MICE Sales Manager.

We're Looking For Someone Who Can

• Win new business events and weddings work, and grow the accounts you look after.

You'll Have

• At least three years in events, hospitality or tourism, including a year or more in sales or account management.
• A real understanding of how events are delivered on the ground, from your own time in venues, hospitality or event operations.
• Account management experience, retaining clients and winning new ones.
• Confidence moving between very different settings in the same week: at a desk, on the floor at an event, hosting a client, presenting online, or at a trade show.
• Good computer skills, including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, and a real eye for detail. A full, valid driver's licence.
• A friendly, outgoing character and the initiative to make things happen.
