Job summary

Haka House Hostels in Auckland seeks a proactive Maintenance Manager to lead property maintenance across our NZ hostels. You’ll oversee a small dispersed team, manage budgets, and work with Operations to keep sites safe, comfortable, and running smoothly.

We’re looking for 5+ years in similar leadership roles, a trade background is a plus, and a solid grasp of Health and Safety at Work Act. This permanent role offers flexi-time and regular site travel.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a similar maintenance leadership role, ideally across hostels, hotels or multi-site facilities.
• A trade background or relevant qualification is a real plus.
• Solid knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act, and what it means day to day.
• A knack for leading people who aren't always in the same room as you.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance team and contractors across all Haka House sites.
• Plan and manage maintenance budgets, and get a good deal on spare parts.
• Build out a proactive maintenance programme to prevent breakdowns.
• Coordinate bigger repairs and building projects, and keep paperwork tidy for Head Office.
• Play a key role on our Health and Safety Committee and ensure site obligations are met.
• Find smarter, cost-effective ways to keep our buildings in top shape.

About the Role

We're looking for a Maintenance Manager to lead property maintenance across our hostels nationwide. You'll ensure our hostels remain safe, comfortable, and operating smoothly for both guests and staff. You'll lead a small team based across the North and South Islands and work closely with our Operations team to minimise disruption across our properties.
