Job summary

Tauranga City Council is seeking a Compliance Officer - Building to support safe, well-built outcomes for the community. You will work with property owners, builders, contractors and the public to resolve building-related compliance matters and may respond to complaints, review information, and prepare clear records.

The role offers a hands-on training and handover period, with support from an experienced team to help you settle in and build confidence in the role.

Qualifications

• Background in building, trades, construction, compliance, or inspections.
• Practical knowledge of how building work happens on site.
• Confidence talking with builders, contractors, homeowners, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Respond to building complaints and inquiries.
• Visit sites and review information.
• Prepare records and correspondence.
• Support investigations and, when needed, formal action.
