Experienced Bookkeeper and Payroll Administrator required to join our great team in the beautiful Bay of Plenty.

BDO Tauranga is looking for an experienced Bookkeeper and Payroll Administrator to join our team on a permanent, part-time basis. Working 25 hours per week, you'll take on a varied role that blends bookkeeping, payroll administration, and direct client support. You'll work closely with clients across different industries, helping them manage their financial processes while building relationships. This role is based on site in Tauranga in the Bay of Plenty.
The role responsibilities include:
- Managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, GST returns, and bank reconciliations for a diverse client base
- Administering payroll and ensure compliance with New Zealand employment legislation, PAYE, FBT, and ACC obligations
- Supporting clients with Xero setup, maintenance, and training, identifying process improvements along the way
- Assisting with adhoc financial projects
- Has a mimum three years of bookkeeping experience, with proven expertise in accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and GST processing
- Advanced Xero experience (essential) and intermediate Microsoft Excel
- Solid understanding of New Zealand payroll compliance, employment legislation, and related obligations
- Excellent numerical accuracy, attention to detail, and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Confident communicator who enjoys working directly with clients and building relationships
- Formal qualification in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field preferred
- Experience working in a professional services or accounting firm environment
