Job summary

Rangitoto College invites applications for a bilingual learning assistant to support classrooms of diverse learners. The role is 30 hours per week, permanent, term-time only, with work days 8.40am–3.20pm (40 minutes lunch). Mandarin is preferred; Cantonese beneficial.

You will work with students with additional educational needs and collaborate with teachers to provide inclusive support. The successful candidate will be energetic, sunny in disposition, and able to communicate clearly.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English and Chinese (Mandarin preferred, Cantonese beneficial).
• Ability to relate to and support young people with additional needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexible in working arrangements; professional and warm manner.

Responsibilities

• Assisting students in lessons under the direction of the teacher.
• Supporting small groups of students under the direction of the teacher.
• Assisting students with personal care as required.
• Assisting students with access arrangements and specialist furniture as required.
• Supervising and supporting students on off-site trips and activities.
• Contributing to IEP meetings and attending learning support meetings.
• Maintaining confidentiality of student information.
• Building positive relationships with students with additional needs.
