Job summary

Rangitoto College in Auckland invites applications for the ESOL Department Student Support Assistant (SSA) 2027. This 30-hour-per-week, term-time role runs Monday to Friday, with a 40-minute unpaid lunch, for a 1-year fixed term.

You will support BMELL students and assist ESOL teachers, tracking ELLP stages and handling department administrative tasks. Proficiency in English is required; Chinese or Korean abilities are helpful but not essential.

Qualifications

• High level of English language proficiency is required.
• Competency in BMELL or English language support is desirable.
• Experience in an educational setting is preferred, especially in ESOL contexts.

Responsibilities

• Support BMELL students and assist ESOL teachers within English and Learning Languages.
• Assist BMELL students in other subjects across social science, science, health & PE, and technology.
• Track, monitor, and record ELLP stages for students.
• Complete department administration tasks.
• Demonstrate a commitment to expanding knowledge of NZC EAL.
