Job summary

Rangitoto College is seeking a bilingual Learning Assistant (Chinese) to support classes during term-time. The role is 30 hours per week, with typical school hours from 8:40 am to 3:20 pm and 40 minutes lunch. Mandarin is preferred; Cantonese beneficial.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English and Chinese (spoken and written).
• Ability to relate to and build trust with young people with additional needs.
• Effective communication to provide information, assistance and instruction.

• Able to stay calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in lessons under teacher direction.
• Support small groups of students under teacher direction.
• Assist students with specific personal care as required.
• Support access arrangements and specialist furniture needs for students.
• Supervise students on off-site trips and activities as required.
• Contribute to IEP meetings as needed.
• Attend learning support meetings.
