Job summary

Wētā Workshop Unleashed in New Zealand is seeking casual hosts to welcome guests and guide them through a 90-minute immersive experience in English and Mandarin. You will be the friendly face of the attraction, sharing a love of storytelling, movies, and effects while assisting with merchandise and tickets.

The role is part-time, fixed-term, with weekend availability and summer staffing. Training is provided and fully paid, with interviews conducted as part of the recruitment process.

Qualifications

• Previous host, retail/sales, guiding or guest service/hospitality experience.
• Conversational fluency in English and Mandarin.

Wētā Workshop Unleashed is internationally recognised for excellence in visitor attractions. The 90-minute wildly imaginative film fx experience invites guests of all ages on a thrilling journey through the worlds of horror, sci-fi, and fantasy in the making.

The onsite Wētā Cave retail store is a cavern of creativity in its own right! Guests are greeted by giant trolls on arrival and can purchase all kinds of props, merchandise and collectibles.

We’re looking for outgoing, down-to-earth, and enthusiastic crew members with a passion for storytelling to help us through the busy summer month, taking tours in both English and Mandarin.

As the awesomely approachable face of Unleashed, our hosts welcome guests into the creative world of Wētā Workshop. They use the monsters, robots, fantasy worlds, giants, spaceships and all manner of whacky stuff to inspire and spread a love of creativity to our guests...

• Welcoming them with passion and gusto!
• Bringing the World of Unleashed to life by delivering 90min guided experiences
• Taking guests through an immersive and creative experience in English and Mandarin

The Hosts are also part of our Wētā Cave retail team, selling and processing tickets, and inspiring guests to start a collection of their own by sharing their enthusiasm, in-depth product knowledge, and sales focus, creating a retail experience like no other.

What we’re looking for in you?

• Previous host, retail/sales, guiding or guest service/hospitality experience
• A passion for movies, visual effects, graphics and novels
• An upbeat, enthusiastic outlook and commitment to providing an excellent customer experience
• Conversationally fluent in both English and Mandarin

Hours:

• Opening hours are 8.00am to 6.00pm, 7 days a week. We are looking for Casual Hosts with good availability across those hours - especially throughout the summer months.
• Our part-time, fixed-term opportunities are:
  • 3 days a week from 14 Decemeber 2026 to 28 February 2027; and
  • 3 days a week from 21 December 2026 to 14 February 2027
