Job summary

EROAD is seeking a BI Engineer (Semantic Modelling & Reporting) to shape the next generation of its analytics capability in Auckland, NZ. You will design dimensional and semantic models and work across data, analytics, and product teams.

You'll partner with data engineers and stakeholders, optimise SQL, build Git-based pipelines, and contribute to modernising the BI platform, helping establish scalable reporting for enterprise needs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in BI engineering, analytics engineering, data warehousing or similar.
• Experience designing dimensional and semantic models for enterprise reporting.
• Strong SQL skills and data format variety; knowledge of cloud warehouses.

Responsibilities

• Design and build dimensional and semantic models including star schemas and conformed dimensions.
• Shape gold-layer data models powering enterprise reporting and analytics.
• Write and optimise SQL across varied data formats for modelling and reporting.
• Build and maintain Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines for BI development.
• Partner with stakeholders to refine requirements and translate into reliable data models.
• Collaborate with data engineers, analytics specialists, cloud developers and product managers in an agile team.
• Report to Analytics Chapter Lead and contribute to BI tooling platform modernisation.

About The Company

As EROAD modernises its reporting platform, it's hiring a BI Engineer (Semantic Modelling & Reporting) to help shape the next generation of its analytics capability.

What You'll Do

• Design and build dimensional and semantic models, including star schemas, fact and dimension tables, and conformed and slowly changing dimensions
• Shape the Gold-layer, last-mile data models that power enterprise reporting and analytics
• Write and optimise SQL across varied data formats to support modelling and reporting needs
• Build and maintain Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines for BI development
• Partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders to refine requirements and translate them into reliable data models
• Work alongside data engineers, analytics specialists, cloud developers and product managers as part of a pragmatic, agile analytics team
• Report to the Chapter Lead - Analytics and contribute to the broader modernisation of EROAD's BI tooling and platform

What You Need

• A solid Business Intelligence background with 5+ years in BI engineering, analytics engineering, data warehousing or a similar analytical modelling role
• Hands-on experience designing and delivering dimensional and semantic models for enterprise reporting and analytics
• Strong SQL skills, including query optimisation and working with varied data formats
• Familiarity with Git-based workflows and CI/CD
• Exposure to data engineering concepts
• Confidence partnering with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to refine requirements and deliver business value
• Any cloud data warehouse background works well here, Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery or Synapse are all welcome
• A transformation tool such as dbt is a plus, or equivalent depth in dimensional and semantic modelling
• Comfortable working in a reporting or BI tool such as Power BI, since modelling skill matters more than the specific platform
