Job summary

Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour is seeking an attentive Bartender to curate exceptional dining experiences with refined service. You will engage guests, upsell drinks, and ensure accurate orders while upholding Sofitel’s luxurious standards.

The role requires hospitality flair, a professional image, and flexibility to work shifts including weekends and holidays. Working rights for New Zealand are required; prior 5-star experience is highly regarded.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months experience in a similar role, preferably luxury/hospitality.
• Present a professional image with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to train and develop others and yourself.
• Ability to manage time and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; strong guest engagement.

Responsibilities

• Engage with guests in a personable, friendly manner and build rapport.
• Take orders accurately and upsell products with product knowledge.
• Ensure clear dockets for cashiers and kitchen, and deliver promptly.
• Prepare and deliver room service and bar offerings with care.
• Maintain hygiene and cleanliness of tables and service areas.
• Cover designated section and station; handle weekend/public holiday shifts.
• Promote Sofitel standards and knowledge of menus and cocktails.
• Assist in setup and breakdown of events and functions.

We are looking for an ambassador for Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour as Bartender. The ambassador should an eye for detail, a passion for creating magnifique luxury experience for our guests and developing a wonderful team.

Your Purpose

To curate seamless and unforgettable dining experiences through tailored, refined service that embodies the elegance and sophistication of our luxury hotel. By anticipating guests’ needs and delivering impeccable attention to detail, this role ensures each dining moment is extraordinary, enhancing the overall guest experience.

Job Description

• Engage with all our guests in a personable and friendly manner, building rapport and creating connection.
• Perform the tasks of order taking and maximize sales opportunities through knowledge of product and suggestive selling. Ensure accuracy by repeating order(s) to the guests.
• Ensure that dockets are written clearly and correctly so the cashier and kitchen can fulfill their duties effectively.
• Deliver orders promptly to the kitchen production area.
• Check ordered meals on collection from kitchen and deliver to guests promptly to maintain temperature and appearance, ensure items are announced.
• Keep tables and service areas clean and tidy as per procedure manual.
• Maintain hygienic food service techniques during service.
• Take responsibility for your designated section and station.
• Promptly answer the telephone and maximize sales opportunities through knowledge of product and suggestive selling.
• Perform all tasks to Sofitel Brand standards.
• Maximise sales opportunities through a thorough knowledge of our menus and offerings.
• Assist in the setup and breakdown of events and functions
• Deliver room service and amenities as required
• Any other reasonable request within your range of competence as required by your Supervisor or Hotel Management.

Qualifications

You will harness your luxury attitude, with humble excellence, a distinguished presence, and elevated emotional intelligence. Your pride and passion will be complemented by:

• Minimum 6 months experience in a similar role, preferably including 5 star experience;
• Projects professional image at all times through personal presentation/ interpersonal skills;
• Desire and ability to train and develop staff;
• Initiates contacts and establishes rapport easily;
• Organises time and work efficiently;
• Effective verbal and written communication skills;
• Has the ability and willingness to undertake further development;
• Has the aptitude and willingness to undertake further development with Sofitel;
• A professional and friendly can-do attitude, with fantastic interpersonal skills to easily build connection with both guests and colleagues;
• Reliable and punctual with a high attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile;
• Flexibility to work varying shifts including weekends and public holidays;
• Knowledge of wines, spirits & cocktails would be highly advantageous;
• You will need to hold working rights for New Zealand.
