Job summary

WHEATZ BAKERY LIMITED in Auckland is seeking an experienced Bakery Manufacturing Manager to lead our multi‑shift production operation, ensuring quality and on‑time delivery of bakery products to cafés, restaurants and retailers. The role owns production strategy, budgets, staffing, labour, ingredients and wastage, and works with marketing and sales to align capacity with demand and new product launches.

It requires hands‑on leadership in a fast‑paced commercial bakery environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Manufacturing or related field.
At least 5 years of relevant bakery/food production experience.
A Level 4+ qualification in food production/bakery trades is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

Determine and implement production strategy and schedules across all shifts for wholesale and retail outlets.
Own the production budget and cost performance, including labour, ingredients and wastage.
Control maintenance, equipment purchasing, and quality/food safety standards across the facility.
Oversee health and safety requirements and ensure H&S compliance.
Direct bakers and production staff, rostering, training and performance management.
Collaborate with marketing and sales on forecasts and product launches.
Report to the Director on production performance, capacity and growth opportunities.
