Job summary

Bartons Sound Systems is seeking an experienced AV installation professional to own the installation, commissioning and maintenance of audio, video and control systems across New Zealand. You will work within a well-established, NZ-owned company delivering high-quality AV solutions for critical public and commercial spaces.

Ideal candidates have an AV/electrical background, strong problem-solving skills, and experience with Dante audio, DSP platforms, and AV over IP networks.

Qualifications

• Experience with AV installation and commissioning in public address or AV systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, signal flow and as-built drawings.
• Strong problem-solving and onsite troubleshooting skills.
• Familiarity with Dante audio networking and DSP platforms.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of installation, commissioning, and maintenance of audio, video and control systems.
• Collaborate with project teams to deploy complex AV solutions across sites.
• Provide on-site support and fault diagnosis to ensure reliability.

About The Opportunity

The primary purpose of this role is to take ownership of the installation, commission and maintain audio, video, and control systems.

About You

You will have:

• AV / electrical background (ideal for electricians or fire alarm techs looking to transition)


• Strong problem-solving skills


• Reliable, with a great attitude


• Dante audio (configuration, clocking, troubleshooting)


• DSP platforms (embedded / Linux-based)


• AV over IP networks (switches, VLANs, IP basics)


• Ability to read schematics, signal flow, and as-builts


• Confident fault-finding and onsite problem solving
