Job summary

Evolve Electrical and Technology Limited in Auckland, North Island, is seeking an AV Technician/Engineer to deliver complete AV installations across commercial environments. This hands-on role involves rack builds, commissioning, client handover, and close collaboration with senior technicians.

You'll work on meeting rooms, collaboration spaces, and large-scale projects, with responsibilities including configuring DSPs, AV over IP, and ensuring documentation is accurate.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in AV installation, configuration and commissioning.
• Strong background in a field-based role with client interaction.
• Experience with control systems: Crestron, AMX, Q-SYS, Biamp, BSS, Extron, Kramer.
• Solid networking knowledge: switching, routing, AV over IP.
• Experience across commercial AV environments of varying scale.
• Ability to work independently and solve problems on-site.
• High attention to detail—especially in rack builds and cable management.
• Physically capable and confident using tools and power tools.
• Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong time management with the ability to work autonomously.
• Ability to work flexible hours and travel when required.
• NZ Full Driver Licence
• Physically fit and able to carry out hands-on installation work (up to 20kg).

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and commission AV systems.
• Program and commission Audio DSP systems (Q-SYS, Biamp, BSS).
• Work with AV over IP systems, including multicast traffic management.
• Deliver meeting room and collaboration solutions (Teams, Zoom Rooms).
• Fault finding, diagnostics, and system troubleshooting.
• Build clean, well-structured racks to a high standard from schematics.
• Support UC platforms (hardware + software setup).
• Assist with system design where required (schematics, elevations, RCPs).
• Maintaining accurate documentation and asset records.
• Represent EvolveTech professionally on-site with clients.

About the Role

This is a hands-on role working across a wide range of AV projects—from meeting rooms and collaboration spaces through to large-scale commercial and bespoke installations.

You’ll be responsible for delivering complete AV system installations, from rack build through to commissioning and client handover. You’ll also be client-facing, so professionalism and communication are just as important as technical ability.

Importantly, you won’t be on your own—you’ll be backed by experienced senior technicians and engineers, ensuring you’re well supported on projects and set up for success.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Installing, configuring, and commissioning AV systems
