Job summary

CGR Services in Wellington seeks an experienced Associate to lead a portfolio of infrastructure advisory work, guiding clients from design through procurement and delivery. You will act as a trusted adviser, shaping business cases, cost estimates, and project strategies for major projects.

The role requires seniority, strong leadership, and the ability to win work and collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams to keep programs on time and within budget.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering or Project Management.
  • 5+ years of experience in construction/infrastructure.
  • Experience in management of contracts, cost management, procurement & design.
  • Track record on complex projects above $10 million across transport, water or related infrastructure.
  • Strong negotiation and client management skills.
  • Knowledge of Engineer to Contract practices and NZS 3910.
  • Strong leadership with ability to drive results and foster collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with clients and project engagements across the Wellington region.
  • Provide timely advice on cost estimation, design, and project management.
  • Drive business development opportunities through commercially savvy engagement.

Associate - Construction Advisory About the role: A leading construction consultancy firm is currently in search of an experienced & proven infrastructure Associate in the Wellington region to take the reins on an existing pipeline of work as well as grow and enhance their offering in the capital. My client is involved in all aspects of the project lifecycle from design & constructability through to sequencing of construction and project management of the delivery stages and pride themselves on providing major clients with the essential advice and guidance to see projects delivered on time & budget. They have an enviable client base across major infrastructure assets including water, transport, health & education & where other consultants struggled in 2024 & early 2025, they have continued to grow and widen their client base. As an Associate, you will be a commercially astute and balanced construction/infrastructure professional, functioning as an expert advisor and representative of the client, providing necessary project advice where the client needs it. This could be in areas of project constructability & business case development, cost estimation & procurement, design management, project management and either Engineer to Contract or Engineers Representative services.

Key responsibilities:
  • Work closely with clients & project engagement across the wider Wellington region
  • provide timely advice to projects whether than be cost management & estimation or design & project management
  • Commercially savvy approach and engagement, driving business development opportunities
About you:
  • Bachelors Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering or Project Management
  • Over 5 years of experience in the construction/infrastructure industry, either from main contractor or consultant side (Cost Consultant ideal)
  • Experience in management of contracts, cost management, procurement & design
  • Track record in working on complex construction projects above $10 million, across transport, water or associated infrastructure
  • Exceptional negotiation and client management skills
  • Knowledge of Engineer to Contract practices and regulations especially NZS 3910
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive results and foster collaboration
