Job summary

Petstock Hastings NZ is seeking an Assistant Store Manager (2IC) to support the Store Manager and lead a passionate team in delivering world-class customer service. This fixed-term, full-time role runs to February 2028 and offers an opportunity to develop leadership skills within the Petstock Group.

You will drive sales targets, coach and motivate staff, foster a positive culture, manage stock and VM, and ensure safety and great customer experiences every day.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar store leadership role.
• Proven ability to drive and exceed sales targets.
• Strong leadership to motivate teams and foster a positive culture.
• Ability to prioritise and manage conflicting priorities for timely delivery.
• Commitment to safe Work, Health & Safety practices.
• Established business acumen and adaptability to changing environments.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships with customers and team.

Responsibilities

• Lead by example, mentoring and inspiring your team daily.
• Support the Store Manager in coaching the team to develop knowledge and skills.
• Lead from the front by delivering exceptional customer experiences.
• Create a strong safety mindset and foster a culture of safety.
• Assist in stock management and stock integrity processes.
• Oversee visual merchandising (VM) and ensure standards are met.
• Keep up-to-date on pet care, products, and services.
• Recruit, onboard, and induct high-calibre new team members.
• Create a fun, supportive in-store culture where the team enjoys coming to work.
• Proactively support local marketing opportunities and sponsorships.
